The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has created the Regional Prospective Observational Research in Tuberculosis (RePORT) International program to support the establishment of regional RePORT consortia in cooperation with host countries. This platform sets the stage for future combined or comparative data analyses and is an invaluable resource for in-country and cross-national collaborations between bench and clinical researchers.
Backstory
I had just finished designing the RePORT India website and managed to sufficiently impress the doctors and scientists that we out there making an actual difference in the world of healthcare, especially tuberculosis. Now RePORT India was a part of the global RePORT International, which also encompassed other countries like Brazil, China, Indonesia, Philippines, and South Africa. I think I had a leg in when the RePORT India site went live.
We were still in and out of the pandemic and all its alpha, delta variant phases, when David needed to update some information on the RePORT International website and reached out to the then developer. No response. A few more follow-up emails went unopened and the possibility of Covid 19 striking the developer crossed the mind. It could be fatal. An intern at Rutgers stalking Facebook came across some recent activity by the developer and there was a collective sigh of relief that a life was alive.
When someone goes AWOL, the winds of fortune fly over my ivory tower, rattle on my window and force me to open the gates and step out into the sunshine. That was David. Smooth!
Daphne, who had worked with me on RePORT India was also a part of the briefing team. It was a large-scale project, collating information, research papers, presentations, and publications, from 6 different countries. I learned enough about Mycobacterium tuberculosis to have an intelligent conversation with my doctor mother and radically impress her.
I wasn’t commissioned to do the logo, but a foot in the door along with an existing cluttered logo is reason enough to intervene. There was an O in the name, there was TB in lower case and there was a play on the positive and negative space. Smooth!

It has been a true pleasure working with Monica on this site. Her organizational and efficiency skills were paramount in getting this project done in record time. Plus, her creativity and experience with website displays were wonderful. I had full confidence in her deliverable product. I liked that she offered viable options, and presented suggestions and recommendations. This gave us a lot of confidence in her abilities and aesthetics.
